Outgoing, Again--December 23

Rose and Flor floated out of Kamala after a morning at Lillo, afternoon with the family,
and a last drink at the infinity pool.
And Cat told us about Pan Bistro on the way to the airport in Bang Tao and that was a great find for a last authentic Thai meal.
Bye bye Women!

Day After--December 22

We were stuffed. Slow moving. Chris, Som and the kids came over with some gifts for us--thanks, Som!
Rallied toward evening to go to the night street market in Phuket, a long drive for our beleaguered driver John. But we got to see elephants on the side of the road, a noteworthy sight.
And the market, with all its crush of people and performers, was worth the long trip.

Holiday Toast

We toasted, we tasted, we danced. A very Happy Holiday!

Holiday Feast--December 21

We marked the solstice with a Thanksgiving/Christmas Feast that blended both the US and British traditions--thanks in a huge way to Catelyn and her determination to make the Yorkshire puddings. Som took the Big Buzzard out of his brining solution around noon and we got him massaged with butter and poultry seasoning thanks to Donna Mahoney who brought it in from NYC. Thanksgiving is Chris's favorite meal and we did our best to show Som what that meant--and she was quick to catch on.
When the bird was done, John Washington Carver took the blade and had it all arranged perfectly. Cat had the frozen stock that made the gravy a winner and the stuffing took center stage--after the Yorkies!
Desserts stole all the show--Som's banana cake with coconut cream tasted delicious but the menfolk swarmed the table with Catelyn's Christmas cookies and her Pecan Pie. Rose's Pumpkin Pie was a traditional winner. No one ate the watermelon. Not even the kids. And did I mention the fresh peas and the sweet potato fries? Or the Cranberry Orange Relish? The Green Bean salad with Lemon Vinaigrette? All so good.

Shining Star Holiday Party--December 20

Eileen's school had a pot luck lunch and the school families all turned out for a fun time. Chris wasn't there--working--and Rose and Flor weren't there--playing--but all those in attendance had a fun time eating many tasty treats that represented the broad range of palates in the school community. And the kids all loved the white bread sandwiches and pizza best.
