The other big news is that John has decided to come, which is good because he can be in charge of the wine education component of the trip-heh heh.
The best advice I can give is to check flights for multiple days. Post them in the comments if you find a good price. We should be acting on the information in about a week, if we get all the particulars in order. What I hear from Moira and Mary is that British Airways has the best prices. The more people that are looking, the better our options. Don't be discouraged; yes, it is complicated, but not impossible. Rent Julie and Julia to get inspired.
British Airways has the cheapest flights from BWI and Dulles.
ReplyDeleteThis looks at May 3 thru May 14 (original dates)
Not sure what travel site you use but Kayak has a nice one for doing comparisons.

Thanks, Mary, for commenting! Here is Moira's comment:
ReplyDeleteExpounding may be a good thing, especially in France! I think IAD (dulles) had the good flights from british airways, but will check some more tonight.
If it's Dulles, I can leave my car at my nephew's which will help on the expences. keep me in the loop and I'll do the same.
Leave to come home on May 14.
ReplyDeleteAs for going to France, I think leave no later than May 5. Since this will probably be my one and only visit to France, I may consider going on the 3rd as originally planned and taking the train to Paris for an overnight trip...just need to figure out the logistics. Now that we know what airfare might me (as of right now $899 RT from Dulles, it increased $30-40 since this am), what do you think the costs will be for lodging, transportation and food, that way I can see if I have anything left to go on the 3rd.

ReplyDeleteGood site for looking at potential hotels in Lyon. Once we pick one, I assume we can probably get a group rate....or at least we need to ask.
