Holiday Feast--December 21

We marked the solstice with a Thanksgiving/Christmas Feast that blended both the US and British traditions--thanks in a huge way to Catelyn and her determination to make the Yorkshire puddings. Som took the Big Buzzard out of his brining solution around noon and we got him massaged with butter and poultry seasoning thanks to Donna Mahoney who brought it in from NYC. Thanksgiving is Chris's favorite meal and we did our best to show Som what that meant--and she was quick to catch on.
When the bird was done, John Washington Carver took the blade and had it all arranged perfectly. Cat had the frozen stock that made the gravy a winner and the stuffing took center stage--after the Yorkies!
Desserts stole all the show--Som's banana cake with coconut cream tasted delicious but the menfolk swarmed the table with Catelyn's Christmas cookies and her Pecan Pie. Rose's Pumpkin Pie was a traditional winner. No one ate the watermelon. Not even the kids. And did I mention the fresh peas and the sweet potato fries? Or the Cranberry Orange Relish? The Green Bean salad with Lemon Vinaigrette? All so good.
