September 27--Around Denia
We stayed right in downtown Denia at the Hotel Nou Roma--and at one of their apartments when the hotel filled up. And we did lots of eating and drinking in that town!
September 26--Rosario's Cooking Class
Denise arranged a cooking class with her friend Rosario who lived up the coast from Denia in L'Estanyo with her husband Lorenzo, an octopus fisherman. Their home was luxurious but understated and their hospitality matched the elegant surroundings. There was an olive tree loaded with fruit in various stages of ripeness and Rosario had olives soaking in urns in different solutions. We mostly watched closely as Rosario led us through her seafood-centric menu and the wine flowed freely as we sat outside near the pool. Ah, the good life!

September 25--Next Stop on the Euro Tour...
Spain was next on our plate. We cruised south on the Autopista del Mediterraneo along the coast. Glimpses of the turquoise green sea buoyed our spirits as John plowed down amid the many trucks on the busy highway.Denise gave us a Spanish lesson along the way, and warned us about the Catalan language different in suble and not-so-subtle ways. Great to travel with an interpreter. We arrived in Denia and headed right out for tapas!
