May 3 to May 13, 2011 The Plan

Tour the scenic Beaujolais region this spring.  Land in your choice of Paris (about a 2 hour train ride) or Lyon (about a 30 minute car ride) and spend a couple of days in Lyon, considered by many to be the gastronomic mecca of France.  On Thursday, May 5 check into Ghislaine and Michel Perroud's environmentally friendly Les Buis des Chardonnet in the village of Cogny and use it as our base for a busy week of food and wine-centric adventure.  Activities include the weekend festival of the cru release and an "inside the castle" tour of Chateau du Briante by winemakers Alex and Herve Longefay.  Monday through Thursday will feature various regional tours of cheesemakers, bakers, and farmers in a region that has been described as the most picturesque in all of France.  Daily cooking lessons will teach French basics and focus on regional specialties.
