Amphoe Kathu, Kammala--12/5

The next morning we walked to Chris and Som's and stopped at the little store across the road from them for a coffee. The road to their house seems a combination of Fairpoint, Ohio and Red Ground, Negril but much more odorous thanks to the everywhere aroma of fermenting fish sauce and the piles of rubbish tumbling out of the trash cans awaiting daily pick up. It's only about 550 steps to Chris and Som's house but there are many sights to see, like our monkey next door neighbors and the SkiDoo that dropped from the sky.
There's a bull along the way and many chickens and roosters and cats.
And then you get to the store and the nice woman and man that run it. She wo-mans the counter and speaks very little English but manages just fine to give you what you want/need. He sets up the tables and does dishes out the window, which is a wonderful way to get some fresh air and to sanitize the equipment in the blazing sun.
