Ladies Luncheon--12/6

Som put all the fish and produce to good use the next day, making an elaborate buffet of authentic Thai dishes for her three friends who arrived and got right to work with her. I cleaned mushrooms and spinach for a salad while she went to town pounding cooked perch with red chiles for a fish soup with a stock made from chicken feet purchased at the outdoor market--the toenails artfully hacked off by the purveyor at time of sale. It was amazing to see it all come together and Som took no shortcuts, making her own coconut milk so the dish wound be fresher tasting. She is a perfectionist!
