Back to Meylan

Sunday afternoon we wound our way back to Meylan, with a detour to see Jean Fraisse, Michel’s dad outside Lyon. The road was busy and the directions poor—and there was no way we could keep up with Michel who drives like a bat out of hell. We made it though, going back and forth across the river a couple of times. At their house that night, we chilled. The color of the year in France is a deep rich coral, that our hosts both favored. Very becoming! And the next morning Nathalie was gone before we saw her and we saluted Michel as he went off to the office. We collapsed that day, cooking only an omelet with ham for brunch and having potato chips for dinner. With wine. With a view of the mountains from the window, why go anywhere? Tuesday was a downtown Grenoble shopping and lunch out day with Nathalie and Michel. John dodged that bullet.
Our dinner at Nathalie and Michel’s was typical that night, a salad with charcuterie and melon. Perfect for the hot evening. And wine of course.
