Our next stop on Girls Day out was a monastery at the top of the mountain where nuns make a special biscuit that is popular in the area. We happened to hear the church bells pealing as we drove up and ducked into the gothic chapel where we heard the nuns singing. It was magical and moving and we both wanted to stay with the sisters, take our vows, and bake biscuits in the old outdoor oven. Instead we visited the gift shop and bought some of the biscuits and hiked the trail around the mountain top to get a view of the city of Grenoble. A sacred spot.
